Redgwell Construction provided complete building and project management services on the development of this 380m2 floor area, 3 split level home and were engaged very early on in the process to assist with design and construction planning advice.

To ensure full advantage of the spectacular views and with careful consideration to the environmental factors at play when building on Waiheke, this very steep site required a complex foundation system comprising of nearly 800 metres of 600mm diameter drilled timber piles which anchored the building to the site. Selected materials for this build included sustainably sourced random width cedar cladding with corten steel feature walls and eyebrow details.

This Waiheke Island location required a part of our core team to be stationed on the island for the duration of the project.

When we purchased a half-acre section at Palm Beach on Waiheke Island, on what many people describe as a cliff, there was only one company we wanted to engage to build such a large and complex home and that was Redgwell Construction.
8 years prior when we started the process to carry out major renovations on our existing home in Cockle Bay, we asked around for a good building company and a trusted friend recommended Redgwell. They did not disappoint, and we have been thrilled with our family home ever since. Based on that previous experience, we were excited that they agreed to build on our challenging Waiheke site.
We found that working with Redgwell was a true partnership. Aaron’s project management, relationship and communication skills are outstanding. Their relationship with the interior design and landscaping teams was seamless and there are many features and innovations that came as a result of this collaborative style. The local Placemaker’s even commented how organised Redgwell was in placing orders for supplies weeks in advance compared to most other builders.
Scheduling was made more complicated as many supplies had to be shipped by ferry to the Island and there were still a number of sub-contractors who came from the mainland for periods of time that needed to be managed.
Halfway through the project, Covid-19 struck, and Aaron was able to keep our project on track and ahead of world-wide supply shortages that started to hit other builds. Sometimes, that meant finding alternative products in short time frames.
The completed house and landscaping are totally outstanding, and many features are a result of the innovation, ideas and execution from the Redgwell team. Redgwell are at the very top of their game when it comes to building quality high end houses.
We are very proud of the work they did as we know they are too, and we have valued so much their eye for detail and their passion, and the commitment shown to complete our build. It goes without saying, we highly recommend that you engage Redgwell Construction in your project as we have on two separate occasions. You won’t be sorry.

Many thanks Aaron, Des, Frank and the team for an outstanding build, the commitment you put in, the time away from your family and friends. This is a build we are all very proud of.
